Pharmacy Program Articulation
Pharmacy Program
The pharmacist profession is one with great responsibility and excellent opportunities to serve people. Pharmacists work in pharmacies, as well as government agencies and companies that produce medications. Felician's Pharmacy program involves an articulation with Touro College of Pharmacy. The student completes three years at Felician University and, if accepted into the professional part of the program, takes four years to earn the PharmD (doctorate in pharmacy) degree.
Candidates for the PharmD program at Touro College of Pharmacy must meet the following minimum requirements must meet a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75. However, to be competitive, a 3.0 or higher is preferred (the average GPA for successful applicants is 3.3).
Recommendations
Candidates are required to submit three letters of recommendation:
- One from a healthcare professional
- One from a science professor from whom you earned a grade
- One from another professor, employer, supervisor or similar individual.
Candidates are preferred if they have:
- Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT)
Touro College does not require the PCAT exam, but we strongly recommend you take it. Scores are valid only if the test is taken within two years of applying to Touro. A good PCAT score strengthens one's application.
- Volunteer or work experience
Volunteer or work hours in a pharmacy, public health or health care setting before applying is strongly recommended.
Additional Useful Information:
Students at Felician must complete 106 credits of which the 67 credits below must be included, BEFORE they transfer to the unique Touro program (unique 4 year = 2.5/1.5 DPharm). Felician will then transfer back enough credits [student must have 120 credits to graduate from Felician] from the 1st year at Touro to the Felician transcript towards the BS degree. Credits at Touro can only be transferred back if the student completes them satisfactorily (2.3 or better).
Note the 1st year at Touro includes the following (other more specialized courses are not listed): At least 14 credits will be transferred over to Felician:
[PHPN 500 - Medical Terminology I (0 Credits)]
PBSN 520 - Immunology and Microbiology (3 Credits)
PBSN 526 - Pathophysiology (4 Credits)
PBSN 527 - Pharmacology/Medicinal Chemistry I (4 Credits)
PBSN 529 - Pharmacology and Medicinal Chemistry II (3 Credits)
SBAN 504 - Health Care Systems & Health Policies (3 Credits)
PBSN 508 - Pharmaceutics I* (3 Credits)
PBSN 509 - Pharmaceutics II (3 Credits)
PHPN 581 - Pharmacotherapeutics I* (4 Credits)
SBAN 540 - Drug Information and Literature Evaluation (3 Credits)
PHPN 520 - Community Pharmacy & Intro to Immunization Practice* (3 Credits)
If you do any of these courses at Felician, they are not transferable because these courses at Touro are more advanced graduate level and customized courses. However, taking similar courses at Felician will clearly and obviously help you with the more advanced concepts.
Pharmacy Track: A preferred GPA of 2.75 is required, but the average of successful applicants is 3.3.
