EXSC-150 Weight Training for Everyone
This course introduces non-majors to the fundamentals of resistance training in a hands-on, gym-based setting. Students will learn to safely and effectively perform basic lifting exercises using free weights, machines, and functional equipment, with instruction grounded in the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) guidelines. Emphasis will be placed on proper technique, warm-up and cool-down protocols, spotting, and injury prevention. The course also covers basic principles of program design, exercise progression, and individualized training considerations to promote strength, muscular endurance, and overall fitness. By the end of the course, students will develop the confidence and competence to incorporate resistance training into a safe and effective personal fitness routine.
