HS-225 Health Literacy and Informatic

Students will learn the importance of integrating technology in health care. Informatics, telehealth and simulation technology will be explored. Students will explore the importance and consideration of culture, diversity and linguistic issues for health providers. Patient, Family and Community Education introduces the principles and theories of teaching and learning in a health context. Through a variety of activities students learn how to assess the teaching-learning environment, develop a teaching plan, apply specific teaching strategies and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching. Students apply teaching and learning concepts, theories and principles through the completion of a teaching project. Critical assessment of teaching resources is also a component of this course. By the completion of this course students have a beginning understanding of the complexities and realities of health teaching from a personal and theoretical perspective.
