LS-130 Navigating Information for College, Career, and Life

This course introduces students to the nature of information and its use in academic and professional settings, as well as in everyday decision‑making. Through hands‑on laboratory sessions, students develop research and information literacy skills to critically identify information needs and evaluate a wide range of sources such as scholarly materials, artificial intelligence tools, social media, and visual media to satisfy those needs. Students will be able to discern misinformation/disinformation from truth. Grounded in the Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL) Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education, this course emphasizes ethical, reflective, and critical engagement with information, that will cultivate students into educated information consumers.
