ART-214 The Book: Illustration, Print & Publish

This course is an exploration of art based in narrative structures. Students will examine the interrelationships of illustrations and printed text. By analyzing models of texts, such as clay tablets; medieval texts, such as illuminated manuscripts; and illustrated texts that evolve from the invention of the printing press through the impact of other technology, such as computer-generated illustrations and texts, students will determine the best format for their projects. Throughout this course students work collaboratively to create the illustrated book and provide frequent oral, written, and artistic presentations of their work to the group.
