ABA-511 Practicum – Skill Based Assessment & Intervention
This course focuses on the practical implementation of behavior analytic techniques through structured fieldwork and self-reflection, under the supervision of a qualifying Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Students must have secured a signed supervision contract and an approved fieldwork placement prior to the start of the course. Throughout the course, students will bridge theory and practice by applying behavior analytic techniques in real-world settings. Specifically, students will identify and implement assessments and interventions that will target the increase of academic, social, vocational, and daily living skills. A primary emphasis is placed on the ethics of professional practice, ensuring that all clinical activities are conducted with integrity and a client-centered focus. A key component of the course involves video recording the selection and implementation of interventions, which will be used to critically assess and improve individual performance through the lens of evidence-based practice. Furthermore, students will explore the complexities of personnel supervision and management, refining their ability to provide feedback and manage behavioral staff effectively. In addition to fieldwork activities, students will participate in exam-focused preparation and guided discussions that emphasize professional behavior and client-centered practices.
