EDU-739 Introduction to Early Childhood
This course provides the solid foundation for those individuals who desire to become early childhood educators. It is a comprehensive treatment of the integrated curriculum for early childhood education-translating theory into classroom practice. Students are provided with broad-based experiences in observing, examining and planning developmentally appropriate learning experiences, exploring curriculum design with young children from age three through age eight (preschool through grade 3). The course helps to develop the candidate's understanding of child development and how development can impact learning and instructional planning in the classroom to design developmentally appropriate instruction. Finally, the course provides students with a better understanding of the New Jersey Student Leaming Standards and Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards as it relates to early childhood education.
