NURS-682 Instructional Strategies, Assessment & Simulation in Nursing Education

This MSN-level course prepares nurse educators to design, implement, and evaluate effective, evidence-based learning experiences by integrating advanced teaching strategies, simulation, and learner assessment. Grounded in key learning theories, the course emphasizes aligning objectives, instruction, and evaluation to foster engagement, critical thinking, and clinical judgment across academic and clinical settings. Students develop skills in diverse instructional methods and in creating valid, reliable assessments, including test construction and performance evaluation. They also analyze and apply the Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice™ (INACSL) while demonstrating competence in simulation design, facilitation, and evaluation, including prebriefing and debriefing. The course includes 30 practicum hours to support application in real-world educational environments.
