EDU-635 Intro to Assistive Technology

This course provides students with a broad background into the use of Assistive Technology for students with disabilities. It will address the role of Assistive Technology in enabling and enhancing communication and cognitive potentials of the student with disabilities within the educational setting. The course will address the impact of Assistive Technology on program selection, curriculum design, IEP planning, and instructional modifications. Students will review and practice with low-tech devices, software, and adaptive computer devices. They will become familiar with the assessment process, agencies, funding sources, relevant legislation, and the link be-tween home and school.
