CRIM-265 Crisis Intervention

This course introduces the philosophies and principles of crisis intervention, as well as the responses to traumatic events due to mental health, victimization, severe physical injury, emotional crisis, sudden loss of a family member, domestic violence, suicide, natural disasters, hostage negotiations, etc. The course will address the techniques used by first responders and mental health practitioners in response to a crisis incident, to include the use of de-escalation, active listening and an understanding of mental health, and person emotionally disturbed.
