OT-510 Lifespan for Mental Health
This course explores mental health development and disabilities that impair participation in the occupations across the lifespan. Students are introduced to mental health issues, mental health diseases and the etiology, symptoms, and prognosis of disorders and their impact on occupational performance areas and components. In the laboratory component, students learn the evaluation and treatment for mental health issues. Students learn how to provide remediation and compensation for physical, mental, cognitive, perceptual, neuromuscular, behavioral skills, and sensory dysfunctions in mental health settings. Frames of reference, assessment techniques, evidence-based practice, treatment techniques, intervention and occupational justice are discussed.
